The Burgeon Highlander hoodie is a versatile layer that performs well as an insulation layer or on its own for higher output activities.  We developed this exclusive material in partnership with Cyberknit, a domestic US manufacturer.  Our requirements were for it to be warm, lightweight, highly breathable, and comfortable.  

Our hoodie is recognized for its exceptional warmth to weight ratio, as well its packability, making it an outstanding choice for both backpacking and day hikes.  Its breathability will help to dump excess heat during exertion, while keeping you warm during breaks or under a shell.  Its cozy texture will also ensconce you in comfort for those lazy days around the house or post hike snack.

Our Highlander Hoodie is handsewn by our Burgeon production team in both Lincoln and Gorham, NH.

Fabric:  

100% polyester/96% recycled polyester.  We recently were able to get our supplier to switch to recycled polyester, so we have a mix of both in our current line.  All future orders will be in recycled polyester.  All our Highlander material is knitted by Cyberknit in Hickory, North Carolina.

5% for our community and environment:

5% of the purchase of this product will benefit our community and environmental efforts.  These efforts include things such as trail maintenance, working with local nonprofits and organizations, as well our carbon mitigation efforts.  In the past year, we have maintained three trails in the White Mountains in partnership with the Appalachian Mountain Club, donated both time and money to organizations such as New England Disabled Sports, Pemi Search and Rescue, Lakes Region Search and Rescue, Rotary Thanksgiving Meal Deliveries, and local community centers such as Linwood, Franconia, Lisbon, and others.

Worker standards:

All members of the Burgeon production team make our products in either Lincoln or Gorham, New Hampshire.  Burgeon follows all federal, state, and local laws and regulations that protect our employees.  Burgeon product team members also enjoy flexible working hours, paid time off, all ten federal holidays, and the ability to set their own hours as long as it does not interfere with production.  Burgeon covers 100% of healthcare premiums for all employees who average 30+ hours per week.  All Burgeon production team members are eligible for a monthly bonus based on our sales.  5% of the sales of the Highlander Hoodie go directly into this bonus pool.

Sustainability:

Our highlander hoodie is both knitted and stitched in the United States.  US domestic production ensures compliance with high environmental standards, a cleaner electrical grid, more efficient transportation infrastructure, as well as reducing the overall distance (and carbon footprint required) to move through a global supply chain.  In addition, due to volume increases, we were recently able to get Cyberknit to switch the base material to recycled polyester.

Machine wash cold, gentle cycle.  Lie flat or hang to dry.
