Lincoln, New Hampshire, the heart of the White Mountains:

Burgeon Outdoor is proud to introduce Cathy Duffy. Cathy joined Burgeon in July 2019.

Cathy was taught to sew by her mother.  Over the years Cathy has made dozens of articles of clothing for family and friends.  She is very creative and resourceful in her designs -- always finding a way to use different materials and leaving very little scrap -- as you would expect from someone who holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies in Environmental Education.

Cathy spent her first several months at Burgeon honing her stitching skills.  It became apparent to all very quickly that you could count on Cathy not only for her high quality work, but the creativity she brought to solving problems -- both on and off the sewing floor.  Her favorite items are our beanies (where she has created several new styles) as well as the Flume Baselayer -- the first product she stitched.

“I really enjoy working at Burgeon.  I know both my work and ideas are valued and appreciated.  The fabrics we are using are amazing. I love the sustainability of the tencel fabric in the Flume Base Layer as well as the recycled polyester in the Washington Softshell. The flexible hours they offer allow me to pick my son up from school -- which is wonderful.” - Cathy Duffy

Burgeon Operations Manager Justin Walsh commented, “Cathy is a pleasure to have on our team.  She brings energy and ideas to work with her every day. Her creativity continues to amaze me -- she has basically created new beanie styles and colors from existing materials - which our customers love.  If you are in Lincoln, please stop in to meet Cathy and our other stitchers -- they love showing you how we make our products.”

Cathy enjoys exploring all aspects of the natural world -- as there are always new things to learn and discover.  She loves the time gardening, animal tracking, cross country skiing and swimming with her husband and son. There are countless precious memories already in the books -- with more to come.

Cathy lives in nearby Thornton, NH.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Plymouth State as well as a Masters in Environmental Studies in Environmental Education from Antioch.

Cathy left Burgeon in 2022 to pursue a teaching position.  We wish her all the luck and success she can find.
