The Burgeon Alpha™ Direct 90 Hoodie is a lightweight insulation layer designed for dynamic outdoor adventures. Featuring Polartec®'s Alpha™ Direct 90 insulation—a high-loft, hydrophobic material with an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio—this hoodie keeps you warm while maintaining unparalleled breathability during active pursuits. Its packable design makes it a must-have for backpacking and day hikes in cooler weather.
Thanks to its high breathability, this hoodie excels at temperature regulation during movement but should be paired with a shell, like the Tuckerman, for warmth in non-moving conditions or protection against rain and wind. The Alpha™ 90 Hoodie is built to perform as part of your layering system, ensuring comfort across a wide range of conditions.
Alpha™ Direct 90 is a midweight version of Polartec®'s Alpha™ Direct insulation (Polartec® has four weights, 60, 90, 120, 190).
Due to natural variations in the fabric, different colors of our Polartec® Alpha Direct 90 Hoodie may have slight differences in weight and texture. Rather than discarding high-quality material, we chose to use every fabric available—staying true to our commitment to sustainability and reducing waste.
Regardless of color, each hoodie delivers the breathability, moisture-wicking, and lightweight warmth you expect from Polartec® Alpha Direct.

Fabric: 100% polyester - Polartec, New Hampshire and Tennessee
Care: Machine Wash Cold, Gentle Cycle/ Hang or lie flat to dry. Avoid washing in washing machines with center agitator.

The Burgeon Alpha™ Direct 90 Hoodie is made from first quality deadstock material. This deadstock is from orders that were either cancelled, dyed incorrectly, or factory overruns. Deadstock material is the most sustainable type of material you can use - as it is already made. In addition, the material is made of 78% recycled polyester.
Our Alpha™ Direct 90 Hoodie is knitted in New Hampshire (then finished in TN) and handsewn in New Hampshire.
US domestic production ensures compliance with high environmental standards, a cleaner electrical grid, more efficient transportation infrastructure, as well as reducing the overall distance (and carbon footprint required) to move through a global supply chain.

Worker Standards: The Alpha™ Direct 90 Hoodie is handstitched by the Burgeon production team in Lincoln, New Hampshire. Burgeon follows all federal, state, and local laws and regulations that protect our employees. Burgeon production team members also enjoy flexible working hours, paid time off (vacation, sick, safe), and all ten federal holidays.
Burgeon covers 100% of healthcare premiums for all employees who average 30+ hours per week. All Burgeon production team members are eligible for a monthly bonus based on our sales. 5% of the sales of the Alpha™ Direct 90 Hoodie go directly into this bonus pool.
5% for our Community and Environment
5% of the purchase price of this product will benefit our community and environmental efforts. These efforts include trail maintenance, working with local non-profits and organizations, as well as our carbon mitigation efforts.
We maintain three (Old Bridle Path, Pine Link, Willey Range) trails in the White Mountains in partnership with the Appalachian Mountain Club. In the past year, we have also donated time, resources, and money to organizations such as New England Disabled Sports, Pemi Search and Rescue, Lakes Region Search and Rescue, the Linwood Rotary, Linwood Ambulance, as well as local community centers in Lincoln, Franconia, and Lisbon, NH.

Shipping on orders $100+ is free for continental US addresses. For orders less than $100 or to non-continental US locations, we charge $7.50 for shipping.
For non-US orders, shipping is calculated at checkout. All International packages are shipped via USPS. Deliveries times will vary depending on destination. Please note that you may be liable for duties on the shipment (varies by country).

Very packabal and lightweight. Adds a nice layer of insulation preferably under a wind shirt. On a day you don't need anything its nice to have and put on under a wind shirt if it cools off.
