The Burgeon Highlander Hoodie is a durable, versatile layer that performs well as an insulation layer or on its own for higher output activities.

The Highlander is recognized for its exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio as well as its packability, making it an outstanding choice for both backpacking and day hikes.  Its breathability will help dump excess heat during exertion while keeping you warm during breaks or under a shell.  Its cozy texture will ensconce you in comfort for those lazy days around the house or during a post-hike snack.

Sustainability

Sustainability:

Our Highlander Hoodie is knitted in North Carolina and handsewn in New Hampshire.  US domestic production ensures compliance with high environmental standards, a cleaner electrical grid, more efficient transportation infrastructure, as well as reducing the overall distance (and carbon footprint required) to move through a global supply chain.  In addition, due to volume increases, we were recently able to get Cyberknit to switch the base material to recycled polyester.  Hoodies (green, navy, black) in recycled polyester will be available in September.

Made Locally

Made in New Hampshire: Our Highlander Hoodie is handsewn by our Burgeon production team in both Lincoln and Gorham, New Hampshire.

Worker Standards: The Highlander Hoodie is handstitched by the Burgeon production team in both Lincoln and Gorham, New Hampshire.  Burgeon follows all federal, state, and local laws and regulations that protect our employees.  Burgeon production team members also enjoy flexible working hours, paid time off (vacation, sick, safe), and all ten federal holidays.  Burgeon covers 100% of healthcare premiums for all employees who average 30+ hours per week.  All Burgeon production team members are eligible for a monthly bonus based on our sales.  5% of the sales of the Highlander Hoodie go directly into this bonus pool.

Used on AT thru hike

This was a staple on my recently completed southbound AT thru hike. I had used an ultra light alpha direct fleece for a short time period but found that piece gave little to no warmth unless paired with a shell, which was inconvenient and negated the utility of the supposedly superior warmth/weight ratio of alpha direct. The Highlander hoodie is lighter than most of the top fleeces on the market and provides warmth as a stand-alone piece but is not so warm that you cannot wear it while working hard in the right temps. It is certainly not meant to block wind, but does provide slight protection compared to the airy alpha direct. This can come in handy when you are working hard on an uphill and reach windy elevation and want to cool off a bit without losing all body heat. In sum, for my purposes, this hoodie outperforms both traditional heavy, hot fleeces and the newer alpha direct fleeces.

I’m in love.

I love this top. I have two now, one red, one blue and will no doubt get the green and possibly orange at some point too. They are hard wearing and warm when needed but not overly in milder weather.
I got Mens and well sized up cos I like the extra room and length of back and arms. Very happy with the look and versatility.

Love the color and texture. For the $$ it was not as thick as I had thought it would be.

Sized up, I’m a medium and enjoyed a large. Collects dirt, hair, and grass. Many nice complements. Wish the fabric was a little more weather resistant.

I love my new Highlander Hoodie

I wanted a new hoodie for hiking in cooler weather. This fits the bill. I used it while hiking the last couple of days and I love it. The hoodie is relatively lightweight but very warm. I really like that it keeps me warm without being bulky. I bought the yellow so that I can also use it as a high visibility item.
