Mount Pierce

Mount Pierce

Mount Pierce, part of the Presidential Range, features some hiking time on the Crawford Path, which is the oldest continually used hiking trail in the US. The mountain is named after the only US president born in New Hampshire, Franklin Pierce. Mount Pierce was previously named Mount Clinton in the 1800’s. It is the 27th tallest mountain in New Hampshire and is included in the AMC’s list of 48 4,000 footers.

Mount Liberty, standing at 4,459’, is a member of New Hampshire’s 48 4,000 footers and part of the Franconia Range. The Liberty Spring Trail is accessible from the Liberty Spring Trailhead near the Flume Visitor Center.

Mt. Israel

Mt. Israel

Mt. Israel, one of New Hampshire’s “52 With a View,” is located in Sandwich, NH. There are several trails to the summit, the most popular being the Wentworth Trail which is a 4 mile out and back. At the end of Diamond Ledge Road, the Wentworth trailhead lies next to a white AMC meetinghouse. It’s a relatively easy hike with rewarding views at the summit as it looks onto Chocorua and the rest of the Sandwich Range.

Red Hill

Red Hill

Red Hill, located in Moultonborough, NH, is a fun family friendly hike with an enjoyable summit. It is located in the Lakes Region and protected by the Lakes Region Conservation Trust. The trails are well maintained and include some plaques telling the history of the area. One such spot is at the summit, where a fire tower stands tall and looks over nearby lakes as well as some of the Sandwich Range. The fire tower offers great views of the area as well as maps to what terrain you are viewing.

Mount Lafayette is located in Franconia, NH and is one of 14 New Hampshire mountains included on the “New England Fifty Finest” list. Named after a French war-hero General Lafayette, the mountain boasts the highest point of the Franconia Range at 5,249 feet above sea level.
