Alpha™ Direct 90 Hoodie - Men's

Hoodie somehow was stuck to glue strip of bag upon opening. Pulled off to get unstuck but pulled some fabric with it. Some glue strip still embedded in fabric of hoodie.

Absolutely love my AD90. It feels warm the way down/wool does but super soft and schnuggly. When you move, you actually feel the air moving through it. Has instantly become a favorite for me and I’ve ordered another!

I was psyched to find this alpha hoodie in hunting compatible colors (not a hunter, I just prefer not to get shot)- from a NH company. Awesome- I just wish the hood had a drawstring; I might retrofit one.

I visited the burgeon store in Lincoln a few weeks ago and purchased this hoodie in black as well as a microgrid fleece. My fiancé also bought a microgrid fleece. This is my first alpha direct fabric purchase so I was absolutely pumped!!!! The same day I bought it, I packed it in my trail running pack and set out to do Wiley mountain (Franconia Ridge State park) at sunset. As I reached higher elevations I found myself getting cold after sweating/running the ascent (yes I did the stairs/ladders AT route), it was 30s-40s at the summit without wind. Immediately put on a thin smartwool hoodie with the alpha direct over it - WOW I felt like I just put on a 800 fill down jacket. I got so hot on the descent I had to take it off. Never underestimate the power of this fabric!!! While I wish it wasn't made with polyester or fragile fibers, I would buy it again. Now my real question is can someone make an alpha fabric with merino or natural fibers??

I completed the triple crown in 2017 and I have hiked the Appalachian trail more than twice and in totality I have probably hiked over 50,000 miles worldwide and that's no embellishment I only say all of that to establish the fact that my kit matters that is to say the clothing that I carry into the high mountains can either leave me stranded or carry me across the summit to the other side I am grateful that your company is making a product that is able to be not only functional but mostly non-existent on my back when I have to carry it I thank you for making it with the quality that one hopes to have when he special orders and item and it is made here in the US I hope your company continues to thrive I will be a great advocate for your product while hiking any of the trails worldwide thanks again for reading my review of this product it is a good piece to add to your kids the hoodie is big enough so that you can really move and still have vision it is wide enough around the waist so that you don't feel like you're going to rip the material when you put it on it is functional in that you could sleep in it and or hike in it.. very soft against the skin it almost feels like some designer material that you would find at a ridiculous European fashion designer store. I don't feel like I'm going to rip it when I put it on my body I've not felt that way about past alpha material I've purchased from other companies it feels like it will be with me for a while and longevity truly matters in my life as a minimalist who enjoys being able to say that everything I own in this world fits in a 70 liter pack and I can carry it with me through even the Himalayas if I wanted to this hoodie will be brought with me to many places God willing and I believe he is for I believe that we were all made to marvel over his beautiful creation in your hoodie will help me to do just that so I thank you and I pray for your prosperity as a company here in the US

First off, Alpha is incredibly light, keeps warm, and dries fast. Awesome insulating fabric under a shell. I've owned a couple Alpha products from multiple cottage manufactures including the 90 and 120 from Burgeon, and without a doubt Burgeon is the highest quality that I have tried. Best fit, design, and comfort. Hands down.

The main reason I bought fro Burgeon is that they actually had stuff in stock that I could buy when every other brand is sold out. Now that I've worn it on a trip and a bit around town I'm pretty happy with it but in the future I would look for an option that had diagonally attached sleeves like on a baseball shirt, which I just learned is called raglan sleeves. The reason I would look for this is that I find the armpits a little snug in this hoodie. It's not so bad while I'm wearing it, but every time I take it off and on it feels really snug like I'm going to rip the sleeves off. I also would like a big pocket over the stomach to put my hands in or even throw a snack in or something. But the alpha 90 fabric is exactly what I was looking for and this hoodie is met my needs for now. I have read people say how this stuff is "surprisingly warm" and I would say in my experience it's more subtly warm, like it's just warm enough and is comfortable to wear while hiking/moving so it got me just a little big warmer without getting hot. I slept in this in my sleeping bag also and it was plenty comfortable in that setting. When things got really cold at camp I still needed to put my down puffy jacket on, so that should tell you about how much warmth you can and can't get from alpha 90.

Great later to grab when you don’t know if it will be cool cold or hot. The fabric adjusts to these middle of the circumstances.

I’ve never owned any Alpha before this hoody, and oh man is it light and warm as anything! It’s far too hot to really wear outside currently, but I can see this being the only warmth layer I need for most activities. Construction is fantastic and it feels like it fits true to size. Highly reccomend this. The couple times I’ve worn it I have been nothing but blown away!

Weighs less than half of the fleece I had been carrying into the mountains, and just as warm. Slept with it against my skin. Super comfy, wasn’t itchy.
Even room for a slim thermal underneath for colder shoulder season nights.

Great company and customer service

I bought this for a trip out to the PNW and it beyond exceeded my expectations. High quality and it was actually the perfect mid layer. It was a light hoodie when it was getting warm but it kept me warm when layered. I will be buying more. I was a little worried I might have issues with it snagging on trees and brush, but I have no issues to report!

Super warm, which still blows my mind given how it doesn't look warm at all. Very lightweight, and compacts down to an incredibly small ball when I throw it in my pack. Super breathable, works great under a shell.

This paired with a wind breaker has replaced my old reliable puffy! Super breathable and comfy. Its works great to fill all those pesky voids in youre pack to! Cant wait to use it on my WA section hike if the PCT!

I just took my Alpha Direct 90 Hoodie on a thruhike across the Dolomites. It worked as promised and super comfy. I will be definitely be ordering more gear for my next adventure. Thank you!

Wow love this hoodie fits perfectly, female 5’4” 130lb. I can wear it over a t-shirt and there is room if I wanted to add an extra layer with a long sleeved shirt.
Love the color. It is extremely light but it has become my go to when I first get up and the mornings are cool. I’m always cold so my guess is this winter I’ll be living in it. The winters in the mid west get pretty cold so I’m sure I will be purchasing the Alpha 120.

This hoody has an enormous temperature vs. exertion comfort range which is further extended by thoughtful layering under and over. Where other sweaters leave me too cold when not moving or too warm when pushing, this hoody does as advertised and keeps me comfortable. I've worn this around camp, on the bike, early spring trips to the beach, and under a shell during a spring snow storm. Huge thank you to Nick with the assist on sizing clarification. The XL fit exactly as I had hoped (6'2" 220): perfect over a t-shirt with a bit more length in the sleeves than I had dared to hope for. This is the first thing I've purchased from Burgeon, but it won't be the last.

5'9 bought xl for husband who usually wears size large he weighs 190 fit is just right not to tight not to loose. So personal opinion I'd size up. It is a thin material haven't washed it yet so don't now how well it washes. Thank you for a great purchase.

5' 11" - 180 L is perfect fit / not loose at all, if you want loose, recommend sizing up, very well made, great color, warm as a mid layer. Will buy again

5’9” 168 Size Large. Perfect fit. Just loose enough to be a mid layer, but also function as a base layer. Very high quality workmanship, and the comfort is out of this world. Honestly, a great year round piece, it will be my go-to sleeping gear for winter camping! If you don’t own one, get one. If you do own one, get another! I sure am!

Well made and super comfortable bit of kit that does a great job regulating temperature. Intended for bikepacking but I can’t take it off in the house. Love it, and I’ve yet to use it outside. The XL is sized nicely for me.
