The forever layer

This shirt is the Goldilocks of layering -- juuuust right! It works great as a base layer in cooler (not cold) weather, or a mid layer on warmer mornings. It's buttery soft and didn't stink, even after multi day outings. I highly recommend!

Best base layer!

This was my second flume 1/4 zip, loved the red one so much I had to get another in blue! These are super comfy, lightweight, and stretchy! I’ve used them as a baselayer for winter hikes in the White Mountains and as second layer for local runs, as well as for climbing on slightly chilly days. It really does it all! I like the that the thumb holes are nice for cold days in conjunction with gloves to lock in warmth, but aren’t so big that they feel breezy when you don’t use them. You can unzip and push the sleeves up if things get a bit warm to dump heat. They dry fairly quick too, and did I mention how comfy they are?! I’m usually smack between a small and medium but the small fits perfectly. I wish they were a bit cheaper, but the quality and price is on par with some of the other big-name clothing brands and I’d rather give my money to an independent, local company :)

Flume 1/4 zip base layer

I am extremely pleased with the high quality fabric and construction. It is comfortable and provides the perfect layer I was looking for. I have worn it on multiple hikes and while mountain biking. It has held up to my rigorous standards. I highly recommend this product for all your outdoor needs. I am so very happy to support a local business.

Favorite hiking shirt!

I have a few flume crew necks and they are my all time favorite. The material is amazing. I was even able to wear them through out an entire pregnancy. They were my only active shirts that fit over my belly nicely and didn't rise up. They didn't stretch and still fit me great now!

Coverage and Comfort

Wore this thin but warm shirt across Franconia Ridge on a windy day. Provides more warmth than it looks like it might. Its stretch provides all the comfort I needed and it stayed put. I will buy another!

My Flume Passed the Test

I postponed writing a review of my Flume 1/4 Zip Baselayer until I could use it in some tough conditions. Got my chance last week. A four mile hike with starting temperature at 4 degrees F and wind chill hovering around -14 degrees. Temps bottomed out at 0 Degree F with wind chill at -20. Wore my flume with a fleece jacket and my Burgeeon Washington outer layer. (Can't see it in the picture but it's there.) Added the Burgeon Powerwool Beanie along with balaclava and lined winter hiking pants. Warm and comfortable the whole trip. Had additional gear in the backpack but it wasn't needed. Love all my Burgeon gear.

Zipper design ruins a great shirt

There is a significant design flaw with the zipper that leaves a pointy gap right at the neck/chin. A better-quality zipper would help, a better zipper AND a fabric covering at the apex of the zipper would make it fab. Hopeful for a redesign, as I LOVE all other aspects of the shirt - well, except for the HUGE "Burgeon" name across the breast.

Love the shirt…except

I ordered from Burgeon after reading about their traceable materials and the NH factory. The fabric is fabulous …so soft & comfy, the fit is great…both mens & womens, shipping was fast, so what is my issue? There is “Burgeon” printed in fairly large script on the upper right of the front of the shirt. I missed seeing that on the photos, my bad. I think this label makes the shirt look like something intended for a team of employees at a convention booth. It really detracts from the beautiful shirt in my view. The cool “ B “ behind the collar is plenty…even if the name were written here it wouldn’t look like a ‘team’ shirt.

Perfect base layer

The flume 1/4 zip is the perfect base layer for shoulder season in the White Mountains of NH. It is soft, stretchy and so comfortable. It's perfect to layer under a fleece or on it's own once you start to warm up on a mountain hike/climb. I love the blue color that I chose as it is very attractive. I definitely recommend picking up one or two for the cooler season. I love that it is made locally in Lincoln, NH!

More than comfortable

Absolutely wish I had this fabric for all of my shirts. Super soft, stretchy without baggy, and no smell even after climbing all day! My wife loves hers as well.

Worked exceedingly well!!!!

Tried these out at 6000-7000 ft elevation at the very end of May. Weather went from high 30s (fahrenheit) at 5am to 85F degrees by afternoon. We hiked 6 miles and gained 1000 ft elevation. The base layer was nice and warm during the mornings and performed astoundingly well at keeping me cool and dry after I shed the midlayer when it got hot. Exceeded all expectations and absolutely no odor. The closest thing to magic I've seen in any garment. The only thing I wish they would change is to offer shorter lengths as well. We're not all over 6' tall.

The fit, color, and weight of this shirt is perfect. Highly recommended! I'm 5'2, 148 lbs. and bought a large, which fits perfectly.

Perfect

This base layer is SO soft, it’s true to size and for my tall girlies the sleeves are actually long and include thumb holes which I don’t realize before purchasing. I love this layer and will be ordering more for my fam.

Gift for very particular man a success

My boyfriend is very selective and hard to buy gifts for - but I loved how soft this fabric was and the promise of it being a high tech fabric lured me in. He is a ski instructor and reported back that the shirt kept him warm and dry - and now won’t ski without it. Time to use my 15% off coupon and get him another color - thank you for creating these fabulous outdoor cloths!

Soft against the skin with a comfortable fit both a base layer or a top later.

Nearly perfect base layer / hiking shirt

I ordered the quarter zip in Cobalt Blue. The article is nearly perfect, extremely soft and seems to breathe well. Additionally the anti odor properties are superb, I have worn the shirt a few times in the past week walking my dogs a couple miles, doing some yard chores and there is not noticeable odor.

I believe a short strip of fabric on the back side of the zipper, where the zipper meets the skin, is the difference between a perfect rating here, a bump from 4 to 5 stars. This could complete the comfort profile as the material is so soft and beautiful. I find that the zipper pressing on my neck at times takes away from the "invisible" comfort of the garment. Would definitely purchase from Burgeon again!

Exceeds Expectations

For something so light and comfortable this top layer insulates very well. I really like the color choices too.
