Passing out the Turkeys
Today marks the start of a new 'old' tradition at Burgeon -- the passing out of the Thanksgiving turkeys. Today each Burgeon employee received a turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner.
Many years ago, employers would provide turkeys to their workers for Thanksgiving. I remember when I worked at Mingo non-ferrous metals how the employees would literally line up at the back of a truck while the owner of the foundry passed down turkeys to each employee. It was quite a sight and their were smiles everywhere.
Our mission at Burgeon is to create outdoor apparel in the communities that inspire its use. One of our values is that we treat our employees well --- by well we mean giving them flexible working arrangements, health care for full time employees, as well as a percentage of each sale.
Thanksgiving Turkeys are now a part of our values and a new tradition.
We hope you join us and support us in returning the manufacturing of outdoor apparel to communities such as Lincoln, New Hampshire.
We wish you a happy Thanksgiving.
No Failure to Launch
Yesterday and today were/are exciting days at Burgeon. There are also some nice parallels to mother nature. First, mother nature.
While the snowstorm was not quite what was forecast just under a week ago, winter arrived in the White Mountains overnight. The drive to work this morning featured white mountains, some cars with snow on the roof and temps in the 20s. While not 'full winter' yet, Mother Nature gave us a taste of things to come. (To be fair, at the higher elevations there has been snow for some time, and definitely some wintry conditions).
Burgeon is proud to say that we soft launched our website yesterday. While we did have some glitches and and some things to edit/update (and that will continue) we processed our first orders. It was an exciting day and a big thanks to everyone who helped make our opening day a success.
We plan to continue editing and improving our website and practices over the next ten days or so. Target for our full launch is Tuesday, November 19th. Until then you can help us beta test the website and shop our limited inventory. If you use coupon code BetaTest20, you'll save 20% on all items (excluding gift cards). Orders $25+ will receive free shipping during this time.
Thank you to all who have helped us reach this point. We still have a long way to go, but we have now cleared this milestone. Like the cairns above the treeline, we have passed one, but there are many more to go on our path. Thanks again and we hope you continue the journey with us.
Power Outage
The power is out at our studio in Lincoln, New Hampshire. The Nor-easter/Bomb Cyclone that passed through New England apparently did a number on the electrical grid. Reports say approximately 59,990 other customers have also lost power. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost service, especially those who are elderly or live alone.
Despite the loss of electrical wattage, there has been plenty of energy here at the studio this week. We started production of our Flume Baselayer and the first batch will finish on Monday -- exciting stuff.
Despite setbacks such as power outages we continue to drive ahead, fueled by our desire to make outdoor apparel in the communities that inspire its use. We hope you will visit our studio in downtown Lincoln while you take advantage of all the wonderful outdoor recreation possibilities the White Mountains of New Hampshire have to offer.
See you soon.

Burgeon Outdoor Update, September 15th
Lincoln, New Hamphire
It's another gorgeous day here in the White Mountains. The sky is clear, the air is crisp and the leaves are starting to turn. It feels like fall -- a great day for a hike in a Flume Baselayer is what we want, but we are hard at work prepping our skills to produce our Fall Winter 2019 line. Stay tuned as we plan to starting bringing some of our 'core' products to market in the next four weeks. Our material has arrived at Merrow Manufacturing in Fall River to be cut and prepped. Soon we will be getting deliveries here of semi-finished goods.
Our dedicated team of outdoor enthusiast artisans will then get hard to work on finishing these products for your enjoyment.
Stay tuned for more.
Thanks you.
